Field Wars Rules of Warfare
(U.S. Soccer rules apply if not modified within)
PLAYER REGISTRATION: All players must register individually and by birth year, prior to the event registration deadline. Players must complete the entire registration, including signing waivers and completing payment for the event in order to participate in the Field Wars tournament.
ROSTERS: Players enter into Field Wars as individuals for their specific age group, based on birth year. Once they are accepted into the event they will be assigned an ID number with a reversible pinny. Age groups may be combined due to numbers of participants to keep a standard of quality competition.
PLAYERS AND SUBSTITUTIONS: There will be no subs on any team. If a team only has 3 players due to a drop out, injury or red card they will be entitled to use a “bench player” to play in the game. If there is no bench player then the team down a person will have to play the rest of the game down a person.
*Bench player is a participant that is registered for the Field Wars Competition but is not currently playing one of their scheduled games and is on “standby” for a game if an active player is to drop out of the match.
EQUIPMENT: All players must wear shin guards. Any player without shin guards will not be allowed to play. Game balls will be supplied for all fields during the event by Field Wars Ink. In the event that age divisions are combined, the teams will use the older division’s ball size.

- 4v4 field spacing will be the following Length 25-35 Width 15-25.
- Goal Size: 4’ x 8’ for all age brackets.

Any part of the ball or player’s body on the line is considered in the goal box; the player is an extension of the box. An infraction occurs if a defender touches the ball in the goal box, a penalty kick is awarded to the offensive team.
If an offensive player makes contact with the ball within the “no player zone” goal box, a goal kick is awarded to the defensive team. If the ball comes to a complete stop in the goal box, regardless of which team touched it last, a goal kick is awarded to the defensive team. The goals are 4 feet high by 8 feet wide.
GAME DURATION: The game shall consist of two 8 minute halves separated by a 4 minute halftime, OR the game ends when a team reaches a 10 goal lead. All Games can not end in a tie.
OVERTIME: Team will have a 4 minute "Golden Goal" Overtime period. If the score is still tied, the winner is decided by PK shootout or *challenge with all 4 players per team participating in it. If any team has less than 4 players for the shoutout they will pick a player to shoot twice.

FIELD WARS RULES (Unique of regular US Soccer rules):
- No Offsides
- No Slide Tackling
- There are No Goalkeepers
- The Goal Box is a No player zone
FREE KICKS: All Free kicks are indirect free kicks, defending players must stand five yards away from the ball.
In situations where the goal box is closer than five yards, the ball will be placed five yards from the goal box line with the place of the penalty in order to let the defending team be able to make a wall in front of the goal.
OUT OF BOUNDS: The ball shall be kicked/passed in to play from the sideline instead of thrown in. The player passing/kicking the ball in can not be the first person to receive/touch the ball after it is passed or kicked back into the playing area. Goals can not be scored from out of bounds.
GOAL KICKS: These will be played from the end line for the team that is receiving possession
KICK OFF: The ball does not need to be played in a forward motion off of any kick off.
PENALTY KICKS: Penalty kicks can be called by the Ref at the field if a scoring opportunity was taken away due to the defensive team breaking rules that stopped a scoring opportunity. It is a direct kick that will be placed on the center of the midfield line with all other players behind the midfield line. Penalty kicks during game play are not live, meaning if the ball is not scored by the shooter the defensive team will restart the game with a goal kick.
PLAYER/BENCH PERSONNEL EJECTION (YELLOW/RED CARD): Red & Yellow cards can be given by the match official to a player for misconduct (physical or verbal). The referee can go directly to a red card if a player's behavior or conduct is unacceptable.
- 1 Yellow card, no penalty
- A player who receives 2 Yellow cards in one game is subsequently shown a Red card, forcing them to leave the field as their team plays with one fewer player for the remainder of the match. In this scenario, 3 points will be removed from that player's individual score.
- Players that receive a straight Red card will be removed from the game and 3 points will be removed from that player's individual score.
The referee will submit an official report of the violation, along with the game card after the match is complete. Field Wars Ink organizing authority will then review the report and determine if the player may return to their next game or be removed from the tournament entirely for their actions.
*Fighting, verbal abuse, such as racial slurs and the like, of any kind to a player/spectator/fan/ref/ admin staff etc. will not be tolerated and will result in immediate removal from tournament and no refund will be given.
SPORTSMANSHIP: Players and spectators are expected to show positive sportsmanship at all times. Any type of behavioral, verbal or physical abuse of any kind towards the referees, KWI staff or other players will not be tolerated. Players and spectators that are found to be doing any of the above will be forced to leave our event along with their participant and not given a refund.
COACHING IS NOT ALLOWED AT FIELD WARS:
Our Field Wars platform is designed to allow players to "play" the game and use their skills without fear of making a mistake, in turn fostering the development of each and every player. This environment will also help them build confidence both on and off the field. And by interacting and teaming up with new players each game, they will learn new skills and techniques through play, which will help them develop towards their individual potential.
Parents, guardians, and spectators are encouraged to cheer for all players on the field, providing positive feedback only, NO instruction. Field Wars is designed to be an environment where players can think for themselves, adapt to various situations on the pitch and collaborate effectively with their teammates. This approach empowers players to become independent thinkers and decision-makers, enhancing their soccer experience and personal growth.
During halftime, parents may engage with their own children and offer positive support and guidance. By focusing on positive support from the sidelines and in the car ride home, will make a significant difference in your players enjoyment of the game and their development.
Kobe Bryant Once Revealed The Key To His Confidence: "My Father Just Gave Me A Hug And Said 'Listen, Whether You Score 0 Or You Score 60, I'm Gonna Love You No Matter What'."
Our Field Wars environment will be a safe place for our players, families, referees and staff and respected by all who attend our events. Anyone who does not follow the guidelines listed above, will be asked to leave with no refund.
Any issues that are not addressed can be handled or modified by the event coordinator at any time.
All other soccer rules will be in line with US Soccer guidelines.
